About The Theory And Driving Tests

To get your full driving licence, you will need to first pass the theory test, followed by the practical driving test.

Theory test - Multiple-choice questions you will be asked 50 questions and must correctly answer 43. This part of the theory test lasts 57 minutes.

Hazard Perception test - You will need to achieve 44 out of 75.

You will need to pass both the multiple-choice and hazard perception in order to pass the theory test.

 

Practical test - You will need to show you know and understand the Highway Code and to be able to drive safely in different road and traffic conditions. This test lasts about 40 minutes and you will examined on your general driving and ability to reverse your vehicle safely.

Eyesight test - You will need to be able to read a vehicle number plate on a parked vehicle at a distance of 20 metres new style number plate and 20.5 metres for old style number plate.

Show me tell me questions - You will be asked two questions about carrying out vehicle safety checks. You will be asked one 'show me' and one 'tell me' question.

Independent Driving - You will be asked to carry out ten minutes of independent driving during your test and it will help assess your ability to drive safely while making decisions independently.
